Michael

I'm starting a page about Michael so that I can place links here to everything that is related to him and his situation. Michael moved in with us in August of 2001 and we adopted him within a year or so therafter. He and Rubin (who we also adopted and who moved in at the same time) have made good brothers. They have, in fact, never hit each other that I am aware of. There was a few shouting matches, but surprisingly little violence between them. Most us that kind of energy from them has been traditionally directed at us, the authority figures.

Michael was living with us up until March 2005. The trouble began in October 2004, with Michael's Outburst.

We'd like to see him improve his behavior and get some therapy before we can have him back here. His behavior has been too disruptive and his temper a little too violent to have him here until he matures more or learns to handle some of his issues more effectively. It's difficult for all of us, because we miss him a lot, but we have to consider everyone's safety and well-being.

I figure he'll come back to us in March 2006. Perhaps that will be sooner, but we've got to look at the pros and cons of Michael's Early Return pretty intensly before we decide. If Rubin has moved out (he'll be 18 in October), it'll be a lot easier for us to deal with Michael. I'm planning ahead and trying to think up some House Rules for when he returns.
